Acupuncture
is a modality of Traditional Chinese Medicine which originated in
China some 5000 years ago. It is a system of healing that views
health as the balanced flow of an individual's 'life energy', or
Qi. Acupuncturists help move Qi along pathways, called meridians,
which connect various organs and systems within the body. Traditional
acupuncture relies on the insertion of very fine, sterile needles
at specific points.
Aromatherapy.
Aromatherapy draws on the therapeutic properties of aromatic plant
extracts, called essential oils, to bring about physiological and
psychological benefits. Essential oils, extracted from plant sources
contain an array of therapeutic properties, including muscle relaxants,
digestive tonics, and circulatory stimulants.
Counselling.
Counselling enables people to develop understanding about themselves
and to make changes in their lives. Counsellors work within a clearly
contracted, principled relationship that enables individuals to
obtain assistance in exploring and resolving issues of an interpersonal,
or personal nature.
Herbal
Medicine.
involves
the use of medicinal plants for healing purposes and is one of the
oldest systems of healthcare in the world. Herbalists draw on the
healing properties inherent in the combination of natural elements
to derive remedies that can prevent, relieve and treat illness.
Although based on knowledge developed over thousands of years, herbal
medicine is today increasingly founded on a scientific understanding
of the medicinal properties of plants and how they interact with
the body.
Homeopathy.
Homeopathy
is based on the principle of “like cures like”. It works
on all the different aspects of a person: the mental, emotional,
spiritual and physical. It is thought to work by triggering the
person’s own healing mechanisms.
